Gemma graduated from the University of Dundee in 2018 and is completing her Vocational Training year at Discovery Dental Care with Avril and Angela as her trainers.
Gemma likes providing all dental treatment, and really enjoys comforting anxious patients and promoting good oral and overall health. She is interested in Endodontics (root canal treatment) and Oral Surgery and hopes to advance her skills with further training.
During Dental School she provided dental treatment to underprivileged children and families in rural Vietnam with a local charity. With her classmates she founded Dundee Dental Insight; a work experience programme within Dundee Dental Hospital.
Before becoming a dentist, Gemma graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Biochemistry and Pharmacology with 1st class honours in 2008, then with a PhD in Analytical Biochemistry and Neuroscience from the University of Nottingham in 2012 by researching pain and the endocannabinoid system.
From 2011-2018, at the University of Dundee, she designed and coordinated Reach Tayside; an initiative to encourage and support disadvantaged young people into University and professions such as Dentistry, Medicine and Law. She hopes to keep closely related to Reach to support aspiring dentists with dreams and aspirations just like hers!
Outside of the clinic, Gemma enjoys travelling, fitness, attending music and comedy gigs and is a proud cat mum to two rescue girls.
